Prairie Studio was born from a simple idea: natural wood, with its shapes and natural imperfections, helps us reconnect with the simple things in life. It can transform a home into a calm, welcoming and inspiring space.

My workshop sits in a meadow bordered by old oak and chestnut trees in Brittany, France. This allows me to work with local wood that is durable and renewable, often coming from trees that have fallen or been cut nearby. Beautiful wood that hasn’t traveled across the planet and doesn’t come from devastated forests.

Each piece of furniture is unique, either because of its organic composition (no two branches are ever the same), or because of the way it is made. I mainly use traditional hand tools such as a drawknife and a hand plane.

I believe beautiful objects can be made in a more respectful way: using local materials, time, and fewer machines.

Objects and furniture designed to be unique, durable, functional, and to bring a calm, yet exciting presence into a space, for those who like the idea of having a small piece of forest in their home.
